The Eye Cancer Foundation supports The Eye Cancer Network (http://eyecancer.com) which is the first and only functional web community for eye cancer patients and the professionals who care for them. It includes a free online text and tumor atlas. There are links to participating eye cancer specialists throughout the world. In addition, there is breaking news, case studies, institutional links and a patient bulletin board. Though thousands of posts have been collected over the years, current patients can go to our bulletin board for patient-to-patient support.

Eye Cancer BIG (The Bio-informatics Initiative):
The Eye Cancer Foundation supports Eye Cancer BIG (http://eyecancerbig.com). This is the first multicenter, international cooperative program focused on improving eye cancer research, diagnosis and patient care. Bio-informatics offers the chance for eye cancer specialists to work together, pool their resources and figure out which diagnostic techniques and therapeutic interventions are best for our patients.

Our first step was to create a unified, standard method of describing each tumor. The AJCC-UICC Ophthalmic Oncology Task Force spent 4-years working on and recently publishing this Ocular Oncology Language. It is being adopted by most of the major ophthalmic journals as a requirement for publication. Next it will serve as a foundation for multi-center comparative studies.

The Eye Cancer Foundation has a vision. We know what needs to be done. We are moving forward and have created a foundation. Now need your support to build out Eye Cancer BIG in the interest of eye cancer patients.
